About The Doctor

Dr. Shugrue 

Dr. Shugrue is a board certified Family Medicine Physician who was born and raised in Alabama. He is a proud girl dad and he has a love for movies, swimming, traveling and spending his spare time at the local farmers market. After graduating from the University of South Alabama, he completed medical school at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Dr. Shugrue completed his family medicine residency in Tuscaloosa and has since then spent 10 years practicing in the traditional insurance based systems. He quickly grew tired of the many shifts and changes that occurred within these systems that put more and more distance between his patients and himself. Dr. Shugrue aspires to spend as much time as needed with his patients to truly get to know them, their lives and their health. Direct Primary Care gives him the flexibility to be accessible to his patients whenever they need him. He prides himself on being considered an “old school” physician by many of his patients in the past and being able to bring the traditional feel of medicine back to Central Alabama.
